As a complete departure from both the Thoth deck, and in fact from Tarot altogether, I am spending some time next, with an (arguably) far more ancient form of divination, The I Ching. In this form of divination, “hexagrams” are created either through the casting of sticks, coins or rice grains. I will be using sticks, harvested this summer from my mothers apple orchard, one that she planted herself, as I channel the wisdom and intuition of the feminine, down through my feminine line.
Even before Tarot, even before Astrology, my first passionate teenage divination relationship was with The I Ching, and I am delighted to be sharing my re-engagement with this craft form here on my blog, thirty five years later! The images and Hexagram text are reproduced here with the very kind permission of Benebell Wen.
I adore that for my first public reading with this method, I got a hexagram that resonates with the energy of “The Fool” which of course many of you know is the first in the Major Arcana sequence of The Tarot. Astrological energy suggests that in your desire to reach out for recognition, that diplomacy and charm are likely to be strong today, but be aware that you may be drawn towards people who are not good for you. Not all may be as it seems, and growth is best achieved through co-operation and teamwork where you can show leadership skills. I was also laughing, when I saw “The Fool”. How appropriate! If you get changing lines at the divination, do you add those into your reading? And the new formed Hexagramm?
Looking forward to your I Ging divination.

Paul, it was a “cosmic joke” !!. For this Daily Oracle, I use the “short form” of Yarrow stalk divination, which only produces an unchanging hexagram, and is more Oracle in nature. The “Long Form” method of the Yarrow stalk divination is the technique that produces the “changing lines” that you speak of. If I was doing a personal reading for a client, I would use the Long Form.

Yes, this makes sense. Thank you! It’s wild how appropiate and inline with the astrological weather it is.
I like this new format.
