Desire draws the Moon and Sun to hold each other; hid in darksome depths, the bold embrace of sibling spirits joined in love unites the world below with sky above. Unasked, the dart of passion strikes; be bold!
Setting the tone for the next month, this New Moon reading asks us to look carefully at the choices that we are making in our lives. If you are facing choices, particularly in the area of relationships, it becomes important not only today, but for the whole month, to examine carefully, the reasons for your choices. Physical desire of all types is a powerful and persuasive motivation for choice, especially in the first half of life, when we are driven to experience all that the material world has to offer us. It also, however, can lead us into making decisions that in time can reveal the short sighted nature of our reasoning. You are challenged this month to recognise that the situation you are currently in, is one of your own making, whether pleasant or unpleasant, and that it is a direct result of the choices that you have made in the past. If you are facing difficult choices at the moment, you need to look at where you might tend to relate on a purely physical level, through a fear of revealing your sensitive and tender emotional side. On some level, you may have been hurt deeply in the distant past, something which can dictate the depth to which you allow yourself to relate emotionally. Feeling safer in the world of detachment, it may be easier for you to advise others on emotional matters, from a point of safety, rather than to allow yourself to be vulnerable. For this six month Lunar Cycle the potential exists to remedy past decisions that have not turned out so well and for you and to see clearly where your fears of being hurt may have held you back from developing the deep and soul satisfying relationships that you have craved. Recognition of the fact that your life is literally in your hands, reveals that help is always at hand, if you are not blind to your true situation. A balanced consideration of all the facts, together with the knowledge that you have achieved so far, will lead you towards making the right decision for your own situation.
This month, inspired by my three week exploration of historical sites in Ancient Mesopotamia, The Daily Oracle this month will be devoted to my exploration of The Mythic Tarot. Published in 1986 by Juliet Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene, the cards are drawn by Tricia Newell. I have loved the ancient greek myths since I was a child, and often use this deck to do readings when I am “stuck” with something for myself. I find the insight to be gentle and direct. The Verses that I have used for each post are the work of the gifted John Opsopaus, whose work can be found HERE
Header art work: Persephone & The Pomegranate by Kris Waldherr. You can read more about her work HERE
My name is Joanna Grant, I am an Astrologer, Tarot Reader and Writer, who lives on the beautiful Beara Peninsula in the South West of Ireland. I can often be found at home, deep in arcane research, or practicing some new form of divination whilst burning the dinner! My children probably wish that I was “normal” but may well remember my eccentricities fondly when they come to face the challenges of their own paths. My long knowledge of Astrology leads and informs my practice, in offering guidance, empowerment and healing, helping others to lead a more authentic and magical life. You can read more about me here.
