The sharp-edged Swords divide the misty Air, whose Moisture lets them yield to outer form, but they divide and sever, for they’re Warm. With nimble strokes their edges split the hair. The Queen moves like the Ocean, and relates with Others, drawing nectar from above. She nurses life with Overflowing love, and gathers food for growth she incubates.
After the heady energy of yesterday, you may be confronted today with a barrage of naysayers close to you, or fears erupting from your own mind. Be aware that staying detached and emotionally unavailable, in a bid to avoid thinking about the difficulties ahead, may be a self preservation mechanism that you fall into to avoid being hurt, rather than a proactive strategy. Today, nothing less than a deep emotional understanding of the matter at hand will help you to negotiate a successful outcome. Use your abilities for clear communication to keep a level head, and to help calm any dissent that comes from those close to you. Understanding that they have their own fears, and that these merely reflect your own back to you, will help you to forge a clear path ahead. Trying to adhere to impossibly high ideals, or expecting those around you to, will not help you to leave your old ways of detached relating behind you, and you may find today that it is helpful to accept yourself, and those close to you for all that is wonderful, vibrant and curious, to embrace the noise, mess and difficulty that comes along too, and in this way feel more accepting about your own place in the world.
This month, inspired by my three week exploration of historical sites in Ancient Mesopotamia, The Daily Oracle this month will be devoted to my exploration of The Mythic Tarot. Published in 1986 by Juliet Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene, the cards are drawn by Tricia Newell. I have loved the ancient greek myths since I was a child, and often use this deck to do readings when I am “stuck” with something for myself. I find the insight to be gentle and direct. The Verses that I have used for each post are the work of the gifted John Opsopaus, whose work can be found HERE
Header art work: Persephone & The Pomegranate by Kris Waldherr. You can read more about her work HERE
My name is Joanna Grant, I am an Astrologer, Tarot Reader and Writer, who lives on the beautiful Beara Peninsula in the South West of Ireland. I can often be found at home, deep in arcane research, or practicing some new form of divination whilst burning the dinner! My children probably wish that I was “normal” but may well remember my eccentricities fondly when they come to face the challenges of their own paths. My long knowledge of Astrology leads and informs my practice, in offering guidance, empowerment and healing, helping others to lead a more authentic and magical life. You can read more about me here.
