The sharp-edged Swords divide the misty Air, whose Moisture lets them yield to outer form, but they divide and sever, for they’re Warm. With nimble strokes their edges split the hair. By Eight degrees the wheel of nature rolls; Reciprocation balances the poles.
Well, it’s a trio of Eights today from The Mythic Tarot, heralding the possibilities of change, and an end in sight to situations which may have been feeling as if you were unable to work them out. On some level, it may be feeling that there is decision that needs to be made, but you are rather unsure of exactly what it is. Part of the confusion may be an inability to look at your own part in your current dilemma, and how your actions in the past, through a desire to either “keep the status quo” or to avoid hurting others, may have contributed significantly to the situation. Out of your acknowledgement of this, you are able to allow new inspiration and energy to enter into the matter, which opens up the horizons ahead of you. You recognise too, that although you may not be as far along with things as you feel that you might have been, that nothing learned is wasted, and the realisations that you have made will stand you in good stead in the future. A positive day, where you gain a much needed perspective on the impact of thought upon your life, how you alone are ultimately responsible for those thoughts, and how they can have the power to change everything.
This month, inspired by my three week exploration of historical sites in Ancient Mesopotamia, The Daily Oracle this month will be devoted to my exploration of The Mythic Tarot. Published in 1986 by Juliet Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene, the cards are drawn by Tricia Newell. I have loved the ancient greek myths since I was a child, and often use this deck to do readings when I am “stuck” with something for myself. I find the insight to be gentle and direct. The Verses that I have used for each post are the work of the gifted John Opsopaus, whose work can be found HERE
Header art work: Persephone & The Pomegranate by Kris Waldherr. You can read more about her work HERE
My name is Joanna Grant, I am an Astrologer, Tarot Reader and Writer, who lives on the beautiful Beara Peninsula in the South West of Ireland. I can often be found at home, deep in arcane research, or practicing some new form of divination whilst burning the dinner! My children probably wish that I was “normal” but may well remember my eccentricities fondly when they come to face the challenges of their own paths. My long knowledge of Astrology leads and informs my practice, in offering guidance, empowerment and healing, helping others to lead a more authentic and magical life. You can read more about me here.
