Rhythm is our universal mother tongue. It’s the language of the soul.
On November 12th it arrives, The Full Moon in Taurus, the culmination point of a six month period originating on May 4th 2019.
With Passion and Discipline combined in rhythmic union at the heart of this Full Moon cycle, I am reminded very much of this poem, a humbling reminder of the significance of “timing”
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; A time of war, and a time of peace.
The cards that I am associating with this particular Full Moon, are The Six of Disks, The Six of Cups, Death & The Hierophant.
At the heart of this cycle lies a virtue to be gained through “practice over time”, and with its origin at Beltane, this cycle has been one of passion and fecundity, but not of the “wham bam thank you mam” variety!
Here we have discovered that matters are often not brought to successful fruition by a single flamboyant event, or indeed one wild passionate encounter, but rather by the measured and committed application of devotion, a persistence that slowly builds to manifest something that is strong, steadfast, consistent and above all enduring.
Relinquishing that which has outlived its use, has been the requisite action of this cycle, to surrender to the process, fully and unconditionally, whilst allowing the “new” to take root and to slowly grow. Any attempts to hold on to threads from a past that is lost, may well have proved not only difficult, but indeed damaging to the ability to focus attention on any newly emerging tender life that has lain in our hands.
Falling in a tight conjunction with the asteroid Vesta, this Full Moon speaks out strongly for acts of self renewal, generated by the need to be whole within ourselves, to be true to our own nature, a desire to be free of self judgement and of the judgement of others.
Strongly connected with the fire of the Kundalini, Vesta gives the opportunity to redirect the life force within, so that rather than promoting relationship with “other” this asteroid fosters the importance of relationship with “self” as a foundation for any other relationship that might come after. This suggests that the fertile, sexual and passionate images associated with this entire cycle have had at their heart, the desire to bring about a stronger and more authentic union with the personal, as a necessary foundation for the work that lies ahead.
The Astrologers Diary
The Full Moon every month offers an opportunity to release old cycles, and as an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular Full Moon, according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.
This particular Full Moon highlights the following cycle:
New Moon in the 15th Degree of Taurus: May 4th 2019:
HEAD COVERED WITH A RAKISH SILK HAT, MUFFLED AGAINST THE COLD, A MAN BRAVES A STORM: The courage needed to meet the crises precipitated by social ambition…… what is revealed here is CHARACTER under adverse circumstances.
Full Moon in the 20th degree of Taurus: November 12th 2019 :
WISPS OF WING-LIKE CLOUDS STREAMING ACROSS THE SKY: The awareness of spiritual forces at work……… this image concludes a process, having experienced which the individual should find themselves more securely established in their own original nature, receiving the BLESSINGS of super-natural forces.
Falling across my 5th 11th house axis, for me, this cycle has been very much about getting out into the wider world, enjoying “activities” with my younger child. Encouraged by the endless of enthusiasm of “mid-teen” energy, I have had to really “step up to the plate” in terms of “guiding” him into the wider world…. something that taxed my energy somewhat, but which also re-connected me with activities that I had enjoyed in my (rather distant) youth!!. Needless to say, a great deal of fun and laughter was had, and I am already looking forward to another round of “the great outdoors” next year!! These themes match up wonderfully with the house positions in my chart, and I can clearly see that the consistency and the “work” put into, in this case, the “play” has paid off, with new-found confidence, new friends in new groups, and new skills. I can definitely relate to the Sabian Symbols of this cycle!!
This kind of “house-keeping” engendered by the Moon’s cycle can be invaluable in keeping “on track” with life, rising to the inner rhythms, and flowing with the lunar tides. Knowing which houses the Full Moon falls in, and whether it is in close aspect with any planets in your chart can be an invaluable tool, along with the wider cycle of the Progressed Moon, for discovering the secret rhythms of your daily life.

My name is Joanna Grant, I am an Astrologer, Tarot Reader and Writer, who lives for now in the South West of Ireland. Throughout my life, I have watched as the planets have woven their stories into my life; as Jupiter has brought me the desires of my deepest longings and as Pluto has torn my life into shreds, and eaten the remains. I have answered the clarion calls of Saturn, as he has brought me to new lands, to hardship, and also to deep learning, and have also witnessed that he has never left my side. Uranus has ensured that I have not stayed in any one location for very long, whilst Mars & Venus have led me by the nose on far more occasions than I care to recall, but who have also brought their passionate creative spirit to the fore in my life. Neptune has beguiled and confused me, but also entranced and inspired, whilst Mercury has made certain that I have studied the reasons “why” for everything to the “nth” degree. The Moon, my eternal guide on this journey and the lady of my own chart, has given me my deep love of The Stars, steering me ever onwards along the path to seek The Sun.
At this stage in my life, it is time to give back….. and my long knowledge of Astrology leads and informs my practice in offering guidance and empowerment, helping others to lead a more authentic, productive and magical life. You can read more about me here.
