The seed point of this current cycle occurred six months ago, at the New Moon in Virgo, which fell in the last decan, on September 17th. Bringing images of both Wealth & Death, this cycle has represented the culmination and inevitable crumbling away that comes at the end of a life, a project, a relationship, or anything else that one might be pondering on. At the light of this Full Moon, it is possible to see that the culmination that you have been welcoming, can now be seen more as the end of a phase, and that in the greater scheme it can be seen that there is more work to do, this is not the end of the road, but merely the end of the current cycle; more remains to be achieved.

Earth 8 can be seen as a reassurance that you are heading in the right direction, but that the time for results has not arrived just yet. You are still in the nurturing phase, and must attend closely to the project in hand. Listen to what is occurring, for there is meaning yet to be elicited from the practicalities of life that you are engaged in, and joy to be discovered in carrying out the work of your heart. At this Full Moon, dwell carefully in the place of process, take care in the daily tasks; chop wood, carry water, mind yourself and take care to nurture and feed the soul. What you thought was finished, has a sequel, so rest a while, digest what you have learned, and make ready for the next journey.

The Astrologers Diary
The Full Moon every month offers an opportunity to find closure, and to let go of patterns that have outlived their purpose in your life. As an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular Full Moon to clarify the energy of the last six months according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.
This particular Full Moon falls in the 9th degree of Virgo, Dane Rudhyar writes:
PHASE 159 (VIRGO 9°): AN EXPRESSIONIST PAINTER AT WORK. KEYNOTE: The urge to express one’s individualized sense of value regardless of tradition.
At this stage the individual is seen reacting against cultural standards and stereotyped ways of interpreting his perceptions. This is a statement of uncompromising self-reliance, which may even imply a kind of defiance and a challenge to society. The mind is seeking to discover the character of the basic and true foundation of individual selfhood, the AUM tone (or logos) of individual being. In the process, however, what is expressed is usually the reflection of a deep catharsis with emotionally charged and often tragic overtones. ORIGINALITY.
As always, I am in awe of the relevance of the Sabian Symbols that come up on the lunar phases; this Full Moon falls right on my Natal 4th house Uranus, and although I have been looking at the outer planets less, in light of my recent studies in traditional techniques, I know for sure that my applying natal Sun Uranus conjunction is a big part of who I am.. I can definitely feel this particular Moon coming; heart palpitations, excitement, electricity in the air; one of the advantages of Astrological knowledge is an awareness of the effect of planetary cycles on the nativity.
The last six months have been for me, all about getting Thoth Journey “out”, so that project has tied in particularly well with the underlying meaning of this Virgo Moon cycle. In fact Earth 8 was one of the first cards painted, with Earth 10 being the last card “Journeyed”, where I found myself in the city of Venice, not that far really from where the deck ended up to be printed. The magic of my path-working seems to be still unfolding, as it may be likely to do for months and years to come. I have also recently finished a rather intense course of study in Medical Astrology; a fascinating look at some truly magical techniques that draw on the Horary course that I completed last year. I feel it is time to consolidate all that information before I lose half of it, and will return to the lessons once more, to take the opportunity to re-learn, re-cover and re-group…. now who would have guessed that my natal Mercury is in Virgo Retrograde!!
