For those of you who like to lay cards to help focus the New Moon energy, I have designed this spread from a consideration of the energies of The New Aries Moon that falls on April 12th 2021
Shuffle your chosen deck, and focus on what you might like to achieve in the next 6 months. What life situations have “lost their attraction” and what seeds are ready to be planted for the fruitfulness of the summer season? Draw 5 cards:
- Card 1: What matters in my life are drawing to a natural close right now?
- Card 2: What seeds are waiting to be planted under this New Moon?
- Card 3: How can I maintain my creative energy over the next 6 months?
- Card 4: Where are my experiences likely to be short lived and transient?
- Card 5: What harvest can I hope to achieve by the Full Moon in Aries, Sept 2021?
For Cards 1 and 2, the realm of life can be seen by the element of the card. Card 3 could be an ongoing measure that you can employ to make sure that things remain on course. Card 4 is likely to show where the experiences over the next six months are likely to be short lived, “just for the moment”. Card 5 will be the outcome of the phase, a core concept or mandala that you can employ in the future to assist you in remembering what you have learned.
I hope that you find this spread insightful, and as usual, please feel free to share and pass on.
The two cards that I have associated with this phase, The Empress (Venus) and The Emperor (Aries) reflect the decan energy of this New Moon which falls in the last Decan of Aries. The numerical values of the two cards adds to 7, the number of Major Arcana card “The Chariot, which is itself associated with the astrological sign of Cancer.
This combination is a potent creative force, the time is rich with the powerful energy of new beginnings. As with any journey, the secret is likely to be in the preparation, for much will be left behind so that you can enjoy your experiences to the full. It might be important to remember that this New Moon falls in the part of Aries that is mostly concerned with the peak experience, the moment of applause, the view from the top, rather than a lasting achievement. This is a cycle devoted to such things, rather than tangible artifacts that you can look at for years afterwards. Writing or photography could be excellent ways of recording what your experiences over the this particular cycle, as come September you may struggle to show anything but memories for your efforts.
Try adding your own five cards together and see which of the Major Arcana you arrive at. To read more about the meaning behind this cycle, its origins and deeper meaning, read more here. “Moments of Glory“
new moon blessings to you all, and may the goddess watch over you
