“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro’ narrow chinks of his cavern.”

On April 8th we have a Full Moon in Libra in the 19th degree, the culmination of a six-month period that originated on September 28th last year, with a New Moon in Libra.
This six-month cycle has tracked the progression between the first and second decans of Libra, associated in the tarot with the Two & Three of Swords, telling of difficult decisions that need to be made, and the pain of facing the reality of what is actually happening. The New Moon in Libra on September 28th brought images of justice to the forefront, revealing what was unjust or troublesome so that adjustments could be made and the core principles of ethical interaction with self, and with others, upheld or discarded.
Fear naturally emerges at times of change especially when that change is demanded, and at this Full Moon, the light may well be shed on any unwise contracts and alliances that have been made in the past. The true nature of friends, lovers, spouses, leaders, political parties, employers, doctors, and all manner of other “relationships” that you have in the world will be called into question as situations become strained, forcing any cracks that exist, to show.
I have used Tarot cards from the Thoth to illustrate the energy present in this decan’s Full Moon. The Universe (Saturn) and Adjustment(Libra) stand guardian over the Three of Swords, reminding us that all things must come to an end at some point, whether that time is sooner or later. In the Thoth deck, The Three of Swords is named “Sorrow” something that is in plentiful supply at the moment, the world over. The cards suggest the piercing of the matter so that the truth can be revealed, whether it is the end of an era or the rebalancing of a situation.
It’s a year of major planetary conjunctions, Jupiter Saturn & Pluto dance together all through 2020, from the last decan of Capricorn through to the first whispers of Aquarius, and it really does feel like the dawning of a new age. Yes there is fear, yes there is paranoia, yes there is greatly increased governmental powers, yes there is an increased police presence on many of our streets, but the challenge is to get “beyond” this, rather than to stay within the prescience of George Orwell’s 1984. Against this backdrop, we can see which relationships are healthy, and which are not…. how do you want to do quarantine? With those who love care for and respect you, or those that only have self-interest and personal gain at heart? Strong bonds will be strengthened by the difficulties endured, as a weapon is tempered in the fire, made stronger and more resilient. Weaker bonds are likely to suffer, especially where your allegiance or faith has been exploited or cast aside; a crisis often reveals the truth of a matter, and anything built upon shaky foundations is likely to crumble. Sorrow there will be, but also ultimately a certain freedom as the pain of loss is released, leaving room for stability to be eventually regained.
FULL MOON BLESSING:
In the glory of my fullness, I speak to you, revealing the truth as I see it at this moment. There are no secrets here, for if you are brave enough to look, all will be declared. Now it is time to turn away from all that is no longer fulfilling for you. I empower you to live your authentic self, to be unashamed of your fullness, to embrace your own power, to proclaim your true self, without fear. ©JKG
The Astrologers Diary
The Full Moon every month offers an opportunity to release old cycles, and as an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular Full Moon, according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings. This particular Full Moon also highlights the following Sabian symbol :
(LIBRA 19°): A GANG OF ROBBERS IN HIDING.
KEYNOTE: Protest against disharmonic social privilege. “The protest against an unbalanced society with its rigid stratification into classes can be seen as a positive factor, even if it challenges the principle of order, for it reveals dynamic qualities in individuals and the will to transformation.”
I love this image of a gang of robbers in hiding, suggesting the redistribution of power and wealth from the top to the bottom. This, in fact, was one of the results of the Bubonic Plague in Europe in the 1400’s, as the nobles lost power and influence, and the “workers” rose to positions of power, making way for the Rennaissance as a plethora of new ideas and influences entered the equation, often brought by people who before would have spent every hour they had, working to feed themselves. That particular wave of the plague was brought from the east via the Mongols, introduced through the ports of Italy and from there swept through the rest of Europe.
The current Full Moon falls across my 5th 11th houses…. children, creativity, goals the wider group… what relationships need to be reviewed there I wonder? or will they be found to be stronger due to the current situation. I am certainly very focussed on creative projects at the moment and I am also making time to catch up with friends who I have not spoken too for some time. It is a strange thing for me, this current “lockdown” as really my life has changed very little… it has just changed for the people that I am connected to; I am experiencing it in quite a “second hand” way…… for now.
I make no apologies for the rather dramatic header to this post, and while I know that the virus is “real” I also sense that the “reaction” to it seems not to “match”. Millions of people die every year, in wars funded by governments and through starvation and diseases far worse than Covid-19… perhaps the threat of “an invisible foe” has actually got the western world running scared…. this is something that “big guns” can do absolutely nothing about? What I have noticed above all else is the panic and fear spreading among the population, and I remember a phrase that someone said to me, at the very beginning of this virus epidemic, when I asked him his view of it, his short answer was “Crowd Control”… it has stayed with me. I have no doubts that an opportunity is on its way, to change the things that we didn’t feel that we had the power to change; and in the vacuum that will surely come, we will need to make a choice.
I leave you with a quote from 1984 by George Orwell
“It was possible, no doubt, to imagine a society in which wealth, in the sense of personal possessions and luxuries, should be evenly distributed, while power remained in the hands of a small privileged caste. But in practice, such a society could not long remain stable. For if leisure and security were enjoyed by all alike, the great mass of human beings who are normally stupefied by poverty would become literate and would learn to think for themselves; and when once they had done this, they would sooner or later realize that the privileged minority had no function, and they would sweep it away. In the long run, a hierarchical society was only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance.”

This kind of “house-keeping” engendered by the Moon’s cycle can be invaluable in keeping “on track” with life, rising to the inner rhythms, and flowing with the lunar tides. Knowing in which houses the Full Moon falls, and whether it is in close aspect with any planets in your chart can be an invaluable tool, along with the wider cycle of the Progressed Moon, for discovering the secret rhythms of your daily life.
