My bare toes are curling up in pleasure, the feel of a deep wool carpet beneath them, and I look down to see them planted in a garden of colour. Rich reds, apricots, gold’s and ambers, riot across the floor, a carpet with a mystical story, a carpet emblazoned with the image of the Kabbala, the Tree of Life.

The stairs today seem wider than usual, majestic even perhaps, as if their rise foretells of some kingly personage, enthroned in glory behind the door….. which also seems wider and taller too for that matter, and I have to run to get to the top of the stairs in time to pass through the portal.
