Full Moon in Capricorn “Release The Impossible”

When I let go of what I am, I become

what I might be.     Lao Tzu

The seed point of this current cycle occurred at the New Moon in Capricorn on December 26th bringing images of new beginnings, dancing across the liminal world that hung in the void at the changing of the year. A shift of location and of circumstance was indicated as we were invited to “re-invent” the past in some way, to envision old dreams in a new way. It is this cycle that is now ending, the time of gestation is complete, for this Capricornian cycle, concerned with structures, tradition, family bonds, work and finance.

This six month cycle that is now ending, with the Full Moon in Capricorn on July 5th has dealt not only with the challenge of making those dreams a reality, but also to finally let go of what has become an impossibility.Since that time, the world has changed in dramatic ways, and it seems that now, an ambitious imagination is not enough, that it is also vital for any new beginnings to include a brutally honest appraisal of the situation. With Chiron featured in both the beginning and ending of this current cycle, letting go of habits and situations that have impeded progress and tethered us to unhealthy ways of behaviour has also been up for review, and it is likely that there is still a task ahead of challenging some situation that is now stagnant, unchanging and unconducive to any positive movement forward.

As can be seen from the Tarot Signature in the three cards above, this is not an easy or harmonious time, although there is always the potential to tap into what is being offered. Old structures that have outlived their purpose are crumbling, leaving us to hold on to what is essential, to create a balance between the mind, the body and the emotions, so that we can free ourselves from any sticky entanglements that still hold us back. The separations that are necessary may be painful; with Mars & Chiron configured in this opposition between Sun & Moon, it is an age old struggle, akin to the memories of a small child, not understanding the dynamics between two parents, wondering why they always feel helpless and stuck in the middle.

It will be revealed that remaining in any tangled webs of outdated relationships and associations, will only impede progress now. This is the perfect time to make a clear and clean break with those connections or styles of behaviour that deep down we know keep us tied to the past and prevent us from becoming who we long to be.

In the glory of my fullness, I speak to you, revealing the truth as I see it at this moment. There are no secrets here, for if you are brave enough to look, all will be declared. Now it is time to turn away from all that is no longer fulfilling for you. I empower you to live your authentic self, to be unashamed of your fullness, to embrace your own power, to proclaim your true self, without fear. In Capricorn-I Achieve all that I aspire to, slowly and with care and attention. I move cautiously, testing each step, making sure that my footing is secure. I am an upholder of tradition, stable and reliable, change is not a joy for me, but I honour its necessity, and take my time. I appreciate the process and maturity of life, and I come to laugh at how small I am in the greater scheme. ©JKG

The Astrologers Diary

The New Moon every month offers an opportunity to sow new seeds, and as an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular New Moon, according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.

This particular Full Moon falls in the 14th degree of Capricorn, which Dane Rudhyar describes as follows:

PHASE 284 (CAPRICORN 14): AN ANCIENT BAS-RELIEF CARVED IN GRANITE REMAINS A WITNESS TO A LONG-FORGOTTEN CULTURE.KEYNOTE: The will to unearth, in our culture as well as in any culture, what has permanent value, and to let go of nonessentials.

This particular Full Moon falls in my own 7th house, an opportunity to let go of relationships or styles of relating that no longer serve me, so it seems fitting that in the last couple of weeks I finally received my decree nisi. I am also saying goodbye to my co-students on the fantastic Horary course that have been doing for the last 5 months, but delighted that I will up with many of them again for the Medical Astrology course that I will be starting in the Autumn.

My name is Joanna Grant, I am an Astrologer, Tarot Reader and Writer, who lives for now in the South West of Ireland. Throughout my life, I have watched as the planets have woven their stories around me, for it is a truth that my love affair with the stars has been and will be life-long. I can often be found at home, deep in arcane research, or practising some new form of divination, usually whilst trying not to burn the dinner! My long knowledge of Astrology leads and informs my practice in offering guidance across the thresholds of life experiences as defined by the outer planet transits. Through combining Astrology with Tarot and Shamanic techniques, I work with you, the client, to open the way to self-empowerment and healing, helping you to lead a more authentic and magical life. You can read more about me here.
