Retrograde Venus: One Last Look.

Pandora shut the box, vowing never to open it again.; but when a tiny voice begged to be let out, she opened it one last time. As well that she did so, for the creature left, caught in the bottom of the box, was the one we call “HOPE”.

As Venus retrogrades back through Aries to re-visit the last decan of Pisces, what does this mean for our relationships, our self worth and what we value about ourselves?  In general, we may be becoming frustrated with the way things are going for us, in matters of the heart, or with the way we feel about ourselves, our status, our financial situation, and whether we are in a relationship or not, this may be a time of really looking at our relationship patterns or other repeating Venus issues, and to ask ourselves what the common denominator is with any problems that we may be experiencing. The answer, of course, is always the same! It is our lovely selves! Some direct and necessary communication may need to be done, either with ourselves, or with significant others. Aries is direct, and does not mince his words… he has an agenda and he just needs to get the job done, do not expect many social niceties, or flowery language. The messenger will deliver, and you will either heed him or you will not, there is unlikely to be any negotiation. This information may be coming at you from someone or somewhere else, but you can be sure that it is meant for you, and no one else, even if it is something that you do not wish to hear. As Venus continues on her journey, next weekend she meets up with The Sun, another date with a different god, but this time of a rather different kind. Here lies the illumination of the issues that you may have been dealing with, and the opportunity to see things in a clearer light. The stage will now be set to clarify and understand any issues that have been ongoing, and to expose the dynamics that have been at work. Understanding will eventually bring the chance for integration, but not until all has been examined under the glaring rays of solar understanding.  The last decan of watery Pisces, where Venus is travelling to before she finally turns direct in mid-April, is a casket that contains our ultimate desires. This is where we meet the face of our highest dreams and the path to  our divine happiness, but also where we equally run the risk of finding that what we have found is merely a box that contains our worst nightmares.  The face of the beloved may become an entry point for our experience of the divine in our lives, something which is too great for any mortal to carry, and challenges us instead to contact this energy through our own spiritual connections, inspired by our loves and our dreams but not dependent on them.  The message, I feel, that Venus uncovers during this particular retrograde process, flitting sylph like as she does between Aries and Pisces, lies in this contrast. If we are to sustain the love, desire and beauty that we seek, the fulfillment of that which we most truly wish for, and the stability that helps us to grow, then we need to master the balance between hopefulness and hopelessness. We must recognize that our visions can only be dashed on the rocks if we ourselves are unable to stand strong and firm in the face of adversity, for if all else has been lost to us, and we still remain, then we will be able to hold our own hope and dreams for the future, something that will carry us beyond, into a new cycle. So as Venus dips her toes for one last time in the waters of Pisces, she will be recovering a part of herself that she thought had been lost forever, and bearing it before her with hope as she returns from the dead, back to the upper world, knowing that all has not been lost.
