The New Moon in Cancer: June 24th 2017: A Love As Sweet As Mothers Milk

“I don’t care how hard being together is, nothing is worse than being apart.”

  Josephine Angelini

The energy of The New Moon on the 24th of June, falls at 2 degrees 47, in the first decan of Cancer. This decan is associated with the two of cups, a card connected with love in

Thoth 2 of Cups

the realm of the Tarot. With New Moon, Mercury and also Mars lining up in the cardinal water sign of Cancer it is the perfect time for new projects that are connected to matters that are close to your heart. Whether this is focusing on the emerging bud of a new relationship, renewing your bonds with your children over the summer holidays, starting a new healthy eating plan, or giving your home a revamp, this New Moon is a perfect time for channeling all that nurturing, caring and protective Moon/Cancer energy. Although you may assume at the beginning that you may be hampered in your efforts by some unseen parental authority figure, you may find yourself attracting support from people who may be able to help you further your ambitions.

The first decan of Cancer is the perfect time for starting a new relationship, and even more so with the presence of the new moon here too. This months tarot spread will be an arrangement that might help you to focus your intention to do just that. The symbolism associated with this part of Cancer, revolves around the symbiosis between mother and newborn child, that delightful “babymoon” period, when we only have eyes for the tender newborn in our arms, on caring and nurturing this new life that we have produced. So it is also, at the beginning of a new relationship, where we only have eyes for the beloved, and all else becomes irrelevant. This continues in its “primal bonding” phase, until such time as we reach the relationship equivalent of the “terrible twos” and we wonder all of a sudden why our partner has become so irritating all of a sudden. Anyone who has children will testify I am sure, that the little habits that made the new child so adorable and perfect, can, in time cause a harassed parent to lock themselves in the bathroom, if only to preserve their own sanity.

So in the perfection and sweetness of new love, we remember the garden of eden that we shared with our mothers in those halcyon days of infancy…. it is a cycle of hunger and need, a cycle of nurturing and feeding, as we give and receive, pamper and bond with each other in a caring and loving way like the two dolphins on the card of The Two of Cups, representing the halcyon summers of an endless cycle of love. Although our adult relationships only capture these feelings for the briefest of moments, if we are lucky, during the falling in love period, it is still the inspiration for endless works of art since the dawn of time. Take time this New Moon, to capture a little of this energy for yourself, and if you are embarking on any new projects, why not try my astrologically influenced Tarot Spread to help you get some insight into the matter.

Here is the chart for the moment of the New Moon….. Blessings to you all.
