The New Moon in Gemini- Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil

If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself but to your own estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.

The New Moon in Gemini on Monday June 3rd seeds into the second decan of Gemini, beginning a six month cycle that will come to fruition in the early hours of December 12th .

Themes of relationship are strong in Gemini, more obviously in the close relationships that we form in the outer world, and how these can mirror the relationships that we have formed with our inner selves.

This decan is associated with the tarot card of The Nine of Swords, and talks of the inner torment of duality, and the stress that is experienced when we are of “two minds” about something, and a card which I often connect with “Cognitive Dissonance”.

This term refers to a situation involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs or behaviors which  produce a feeling of mental discomfort, challenging the subject to alter either the attitudes, beliefs or behaviors in order to that discomfort may be reduced, and balance restored. So very often, our actions go against what our inner self strives to do, and many of our habitual responses to life can often be more closely associated with “pain relief” or “self medication” than what we, as a human being, actually “want” to do.

RWS-The Nine of Swords

In our desire to cover all bases, we often find ourselves torn between contradictions, unable to see things clearly, nor able to judge what is “right” or “wrong” for us at any given time…. something which can inevitably lead to the situation that we see pictured in the Nine of Swords. Associated with Mars in Gemini, this card clearly expresses the torment of a mind in overwhelm, damaging the self with its incessant stress, worry, fear and “what if’s”

The power within this image however, is to be able to walk the middle ground, and to appreciate the view on both sides, but to be beholden to no particular view, as there is a clear understanding that nothing will be missed out upon.

This New Moon urges us to moves into new realms and to challenge the fears, insecurity and the lack of self-confidence that have been conditioned by our history and our environment, to become perhaps, more of the person that we seek to be.

In return, over the next six months, we have the opportunity to generate greater self-discipline, to hone our skills  and build our self confidence; in becoming, even if not an inspiration to others, then an inspiration to ourselves. In seeking to align our life with our true will, rather than to be permanently sidetracked into a “dead-end street” of “white noise” or endless juggling of responsibilities, oughts and shoulds, we stand to gain mental strength and confidence….. although it could be relevant to remember that we may need to “fake it until we make it”!!

The Astrologers Diary

131_WOYS_wheel-of-year-pagan-holiday-calendar-900x900The New Moon every month offers an opportunity to sow new seeds, and as an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular New Moon, according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.

This particular New Moon falls in the 13th degree of Gemini, which Dane Rudhyar describes as follows:

A FAMOUS PIANIST GIVING A CONCERT PERFORMANCE.

Individual fulfillment in the performing of a social function to which some prestige is attached.

Now I had not actually read this interpretation at the time that I had decided to offer a free client place, in order to help me get to grips with some new astrological techniques… but I see that the meaning of this New Moon, really ties in with what I decided to do! Initially it was to be one place, but then I decided on two… which is relevant, as today I connected this to the fact that the New Moon falls in Gemini, which is of course the sign of The Twins.

This particular New Moon falls in my own 12th house… so it represents the opportunity to begin something new, which will move me out of my comfort zone. Gemini is my own “Achilles Heel”. I am challenged and afraid (12th House) by Communication and making connections in the community!(Gemini) My knowledge of this has encouraged me in wom1latter years to use this combination to my advantage, in teaching and consulting (Gemini) by means of the internet/collective (12th House). In this way I have managed to connect to thousands of people, from all walks of life (Gemini) from the  privacy of my own home. (12th House).

For this New Moon, I am starting a project where I will be working with people in my own physical community, people who I see on a daily basis (Gemini), and working with them behind closed doors to help them understand the secrets of their natal charts. (12th House)…

Knowing which house the New Moon falls in, and whether it is in close aspect with any planets in your chart can be an invaluable tool, along with the wider cycle of the Progressed Moon, for discovering the secret rhythms of your daily life.

New Moon in Gemini

My name is Joanna Grant, I am an Astrologer, Tarot Reader and Writer, who lives for now Head Shot Fadein the South West of Ireland. Through my life, I have watched as Jupiter has brought me the desires of my deepest longings, and also suffered as Pluto has torn my life into shreds, and eaten the remains. I have answered the calls of Saturn, as he has brought me to new lands, hardship, and also to deep learning, and have also witnessed that he has never left my side. Uranus has ensured that I have not stayed in any one location for very long, whilst Mars & Venus have led me by the nose on far more occasions than I care to recall, but who have also brought their passionate efe5e34ac3b2f4dc8d851a9fa3eb13d1creative spirit to the fore in my life. Neptune has beguiled and confused me, but also entranced and inspired, whilst Mercury has made certain that I have studied the reasons “why” for everything to the “nth” degree. The Moon, my eternal guide on this journey and the lady of my own chart, has given me my deep love of The Stars, steering me ever onwards along the path to seek The Sun.

At this stage in my life, it is time to give back….. and my long knowledge of Astrology leads and informs my practice in offering guidance and empowerment, helping others to lead a more authentic, productive and magical life. You can read more about me here.
