The Full Moon in Sagittarius on Monday June 17th, culminates a cycle that started with the New Moon in Sagittarius on December 7th 2018, and has challenged us to look at how and where we are “dependent” and how this dependance may eventually undermine our power to stand forward and to be an individual in our own right.

This Full Moon represents a powerful time for release, when we are encouraged to look at what really matters to us, the bare bones of our existence, to look at our lives, and to choose the essentials that we would take away with us to that “desert island”… to “keep the best and ditch the rest”…on some level, we cannot continue in the way that we have, and something must be put down. 

What aspects of our lives have become unnecessary? what is no longer of use? what have we outgrown? what dependances do we now feel strong enough to leave behind? 

All these questions and more, may be arising as a result of the events of the past six months, and on many levels, life may be presenting you not only with the inevitable

endings, but also the knowledge that you have enough of your own resources and sense of self determination to start afresh, in a new way, on a new day.

This cycle was never going to be easy, as the comfort of always returning to the “same

old scenarios” that keep you bound, secure but ultimately imprisoned, are very difficult to walk away from. Uncertainty and fear always accompany the move away from the known, but the promise of freedom, and the need to move on, are likely to be strongly felt right now. It is not enough just to feed on the “leftovers” to be content with the “scraps”… the urge is to break away, and seek pastures new.

So for this Full Moon, recognise that not all of your burdens are necessary, and the call is to carry only what is vital. Even if this seems to spell the death of much that you believe to be important, the invitation is to offload, step free, and discover what comes next, what new opportunities will arise to fill the space that you have created.

The Full Moon every month offers an opportunity to release old cycles, and as an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular Full Moon, according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.  

This particular Full Moon falls in the 26th degree of Gemini, which Dane Rudhyar describes as follows:

This particular Full Moon falls across my own 6th 12th house axis, and illuminates various issues connected to health, routines and habits, that I have been wrestling with over the last six months.!

This Full Moon presents to me the opportunity to release negative thought patterns that hold me back from being “wise” on a daily basis. Currently being illuminated by the Sun, this time of year is for me, always a time of looking inwards, as the yearly cycle puts my 12th house, the house of “hidden things” in the spotlight. Letting go of outdated ideas will aid me in incorporating new routines to help me develop better mobility in my daily life, whilst exploring and letting go of old and now unnecessary habits that belonged to a “younger” self, can now be safely let go of, I no longer need them.

This kind of “house-keeping” engendered by the Moon’s cycle can be invaluable in keeping “on track” with life, rising to the inner rhythms, and flowing with the lunar tides. In the same tone, I know that the next New Moon, wil fall in a particularly relevant place in my first hose, and it will be interesting to conjecture on the outcome of that 6 month cycle which will also be an Eclipse Cycle. 

Knowing which houses the Full Moon falls in, and whether it is in close aspect with any planets in your chart can be an invaluable tool, along with the wider cycle of the Progressed Moon, for discovering the secret rhythms of your daily life.
