New Moon in Libra “Peace Restored”

The New Moon in Libra on September 28th brings images of justice to the forefront, bringing what is unjust or troublesome, into the awareness, so that adjustments may be made, and the core principles of ethical interaction with self, and with others revealed.

This decan is associated with the tarot card of The Two of Swords, and my example today is shown here from The Mythic Tarot, depicting the fear that naturally emerges at times of change. A tense situation has arisen, perhaps between two people, and change is demanded. Change however, requests that we look at what can sometimes be uncomfortable truths, to examine our past actions, so that we can open the way for something new to emerge. 

The point of New Moon, falls in a close opposition to Chiron in Aries, suggesting that it may only be through examining our wounded selves, and in turn how those wounded aspects of self have related to others, that we are able to take the necessary steps forward. 

When a new view of life is stirring, we can often be filled with anxiety and fear, as we can tend to see only the extremes of what may happen as a result of our actions. We may even find ourselves caught in some kind of paralysis, where we cannot move forward, and neither can we move back. With the Equinox now passed, Autumn is being ushered in and we are in a time of flux, for with the changing of the seasons, it is a time of passing away, a time of moving on.  

The six month cycle that begins at this New Moon, and which ends with the Full Moon in Libra on April 8th 2020, deals with the challenge of breaking through the family myths that accompanied us into this world, in order to create a new world of our own choosing, populated by people who reflect the state of our inner being. “Swords are the suit that deal with the human mind in its most potent form; the capacity to create a happy or unhappy fate depending on the strength of one’s beliefs, convictions or principles.” At this seeding New Moon, it then becomes vitally important to visualise what you want around you at this time, and to be kind to yourself in the face of any changes that you are undergoing. It is a time to maintain your own inner calm, to be true to your path, and to your hopes for the future, and to release those relationships from your life that no longer serve the person that you are becoming. 

The Astrologers Diary 

The New Moon every month offers an opportunity to sow new seeds, and as an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular New Moon, according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.  

This particular New Moon falls in the 6th degree of Libra, which Dane Rudhyar describes as follows: 

A MAN WATCHES HIS IDEALS TAKING A CONCRETE FORM BEFORE HIS INNER VISION: The need to visualize clearly one’s dreams or ideals in order to make them truly effectual.

This particular New Moon falls in my own 4th  house, so the next six months will be in some way, defined by the energy described by this particular New Moon. For me, it will be all about home, what constitutes home, and the foundation that I am standing upon. In accordance to the libran nature of “justice” I am dealing with many “adjustments”, some of them legal, in the outer world, which reflect the profound changes in my inner world that have been occurring over the past four years. A death in the family has brought the matter of “home and family” to the fore, interestingly, in my mother’s family, who is in fact a Libran herself. The Two of Swords associated with this New Moon is connected astrologically to the Moon in Libra too, so there are a lot of boxes being checked for me around this particular New Moon. My focus this month will be on redress, rebalancing and harmonising in the physical world, helping myself to achieve a greater emotional poise. The results, in six months time, will be reflected in the outer world, how I am seen, and the way I work…. I better concentrate on this one! 🙂
