Adjustment

It feels as if the world is on pause today, as she looks around The Hallway of Beginnings. Somehow it feels as if something has changed, that the fabric of the universe has shifted slightly, giving everything a slightly fresher edge. Today, the stairs seem to turn in a more elegant phrase whilst the light of the distant windows is balanced by violet shades that embrace the corners and cornices of the hallway; more chairs seem to have been added along the wall on the other side of the staircase, and she wonders if other people will eventually join her solitary meanderings into the worlds that have no end.

For a second she feels that she can hear some kind of music, or not hear, but perhaps smell, can music have a smell? She senses music in the silence, and it adds a substance to the air, gives it a form and structure that she has never noticed before, “resonance”. She ceases her deductions, and walks up on to the landing, her starting point, her stage entrance, the door to another place, and walks out into a quiet and dimly lit landscape, dark, with only the moon and stars for light.

The silence of the place is immense, but within it, a long gracious avenue leads through a beautiful moonlit garden where a tapestry of blues, greys, cobalt and silver, are intimately and elegantly entwined, waltzing through a colonnade of urns and statues that line the marble flagged walkway. What a place, she is mesmerized by the calm, meditative beauty of her surroundings, and starts to feel even more relaxed than she already is; a profound calm descends, her heartbeat drops and the stretch of her breathing slows and deepens.

Continuing gently, one slow step at a time along the road of satin stone, she moves towards a circular temple-like structure, situated at the centre of the garden. Standing before the building, she takes in the balance and poise of the building’s form, its delicately arched roof and the spiral finials and polished globes that adorn it. The pale marble gleams ghostly white in the moonlight and the solitary tabernacle looks for a moment like a ghostly ship, afloat upon an indigo sea, a bastion of calm, a place of knowledge and balance.

As she stands there, dark shapes pass across the sky, birds flapping quietly away into the darkness; all extraneous thoughts depart, and she is left with one focus, one mind, and walks quietly up the steps to enter her presence, for there she stands, within the temple, the lady of the card stands within. Poised upon the tip of a great sword, she is an inscrutable and alluring figure, swathed in cobalt silk and masked with ebony. At a point of perfect balance, she is equity and perfection, Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end, measuring life and death in her scales.

She is suspended energy, pure thought, the embodiment of meditation. As she stands, absorbing the magical presence of this gracious figure, she feels a kind of release, it seems to her as if every cell in her body is starting to rise against gravity, to sit suspended in pure light. There is no focus, she feels as if she is completely weightless, without form or density, that she has become one with the universe, drifting effortlessly, sinking towards the centre of her cells, towards that spark of divine fire within every particle that she is. Standing for what seems like an eternity, she drifts in space, the blood in her veins populated with a galaxy of suns, she is at one, at a point of stillness, a perfect balance.

Unlike other journeys, this vision slowly fades; there is no departure, no trumpeting fanfare, and no silken hung portal. Like the dawn breaking across the starry sky, the magical garden fades slowly into grey, softly erasing the temple of Adjustment. She gradually becomes aware of the seat that she is in, she has even bypassed The Hallway of Beginnings, and she is sitting in her cosy red chair by the fireside. Things are different now, in some small way, the magic has been woven, she is adjusted, she is balanced, she has set the scene for the future.

This card comes at a time when your outer world needs to change to reflect the change that has occurred within. These changes may be difficult to manage, for they show the world that you have moved on, something that you may not feel entirely comfortable with. Focussing on developing inner calm will help you to facilitate the change, as well as accepting that some decisions will always be out of your hands, but that ultimately they are for the best.
