New Moon in Libra: Thursday October 19th 2017 “The Eye of The Storm”

When you deeply accept this moment as it is–no matter what form it takes–you are still, you are at peace. ~Eckhart Tolle

The New Moon on Thursday October 19th falls in a direct opposition to Uranus, seeding an opportunity to break free from the tension that may have been aggravating you on various levels. This combination of the New Moon in Libra, with a close opposition to Uranus, “The Awakener” in Aries, draws our attention to the need to identify where you may have been avoiding self knowledge, through your preoccupation with your relationships with others. Deflecting matters that you are dealing with in relationships, and laying them at the feet of partners, colleagues and family members, may in fact, only be delaying their resolution further.

Over the last six months, since the Full Moon in this same decan of Libra in April, we have been challenged to open the doors to our deepest needs and desires in order to reveal all that we contain. To walk this path through the fury of the storm that was so released, may have been no easy task, and the challenge to find the calm center within may have seemed at times to be impossible.

During this process we may well have been faced with some uncomfortable truths about ourselves, and fought to gain a firm footing from where we could operate. I feel that the key to this particular New Moon lies in the acceptance of all that you are, and stepping into the center of this; to feel unafraid to break free from all that may still be holding you back from being your true and authentic self, and to make no apology for following your heart. Standing within the eye of the storm will help you to “be the storm” rather than to be “governed by the storm”. This New Moon, take the opportunity to stand firm in your individuality, and know that true strength comes from embracing all aspects of yourself, rather than by hiding parts of yourself away.

The card that governs this decan (10 degree segment) of Libra, is the Four of Swords, associated associated astrologically with Jupiter in Libra. As Jupiter has just moved out of Libra, and now into Scorpio, a sign strongly associated with The Prince of Cups, we get a decided feeling this New Moon, of being able finally to look beneath the surface, and to perhaps face things that we have been afraid of unearthing. We have the courage now to expand into areas that may have been taboo before, and to examine all aspects of a situation, not just the more pleasant ones.

In standing apart from a situation, it does not necessarily mean that it is over, rather that you are taking the time to find out where you stand, to test the foundations, to make sure that you are not going too far too fast.

In RWS decks, this card is often represented as someone who is at rest, considering options that are obvious, rather than considering all things, including those that are less obvious. If you feel stuck in a situation, or that the momentum has been lost, it may be important to see that the way out of this situation is to give freedom to all thoughts, and to voice that which you may have refrained from voicing. Now is not the time to be holding back, but rather a time of accepting all that you find within you, so that you can move forwards with clarity and renewed strength. It will not be time wasted, but an investment in your own strength, and also a way to avoid being pulled up in your tracks through “circumstance” as the universe turns you away from an ill advised path through illness or accident.
