There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief…and unspeakable love.
The New Moon in Scorpio this month, emerges into an atmosphere of deep transformation. The applying square between Mars in mid Libra and Pluto in mid Capricorn, suggests
power struggles that threaten to uproot the structure of any relationships that may be suffering because of shaky foundations. The New Moon occurs in the last decan of Scorpio, associated with Venus, and the tarot card The Seven of Cups. After the delicious and ardent hungers of the first decan of Scorpio, that are sated so pleasurably in the second, we see the tarnished, world weary appetites of Venus in Scorpio facing the realisation that placating ones mortal desires, in the end, does not serve.
Whatever appetites we have been pleasing, whether they be sexual, emotional, financial or otherwise, we are faced now with examining our true desires, for in the wake of carnal satisfaction, desire has awoken again. We are challenged to raise our eyes higher, to search for a more profound feeling of connection than the one that is offered temporarily in our fleeting moments of bliss. We are urged to search for a deeper union, that engenders spiritual as well as physical satisfaction, one that encapsulates the vision of the soaring eagle of Scorpio, not just the turbulent emotional world of the Scorpion.
To seek for such a thing may not be our first thought, but we know initially what we do not want. The urge to drown ones sorrows in substitutes could be the danger at this time, and we are advised not to fall for the mirages and siren songs that arise in this decan. Spectral visions of the divine that promise eternity may in hindsight show nothing more fruitful than a wasteland, so be slow to take the next step. Sit with your yearnings, examine their sources, and wait for that which endures to arise, for that will be your truth.
