From desire I plunge to its fulfillment, where I long once more for desire.
The New Moon in Scorpio falls in the early hours of October 28th, initiating a six month cycle that culminates on May 7th 2020.
Bringing with it, images of hunger and desire, the yearning for union and to satiate the appetite, this New Moon alludes to the kind of hunger that is rarely sated for long, before awakening once more.
Perfecting in a tight applying opposition to Uranus, This New Moon suggests that it may be a potent time to break free from addictive cycles, and new methods may be used to advantage now, to disassociate from limiting patterns that have become stifling.

This particular decan is associated with the tarot card of The Five of Cups, in this example represented from The Thoth Tarot.
I often associate this card with the relentless cycle of addiction, where the ability to nourish and replenish the self has been lost, leaving one exhausted with life, unable to do much but to keep on in the same rut, the pattern of known comfort which anaesthetises and protects, allowing an escape from the fear of looking outside into the realm of change.
Self love is the key to breaking these repetitive cycles and this New Moon offers the inspiration to look honestly at the roots of exhaustion and any habitually fearful or indulgent responses to life, allowing clear insight into the truth of how imprisoning it can be to, and also how hard it can be to risk the plunge that is required in order to fully engage with life, to open up to the rawness, ugliness and towering beauty of it all, without anaesthetic.
This New Moon brings the challenge to seek a deeper engagement with the stuff of life, to notice any habitual responses that are preventing you from acting from the heart; responses that may be keeping you in a “so called” “comfort zone”, that if taken from a different perspective, might actually be revealed as a prison.
wishing you all a blessed New Moon, and may the Goddess watch over you
The Astrologers Diary
The New Moon every month offers an opportunity to sow new seeds, and as an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular New Moon, according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.
This particular New Moon falls in the 5th degree of Scorpio, which Dane Rudhyar describes as follows:
A MASSIVE ROCKY SHORE RESISTS THE POUNDING OF THE SEA: The inertia of all institutionalized procedures.
This particular New Moon falls in my own 5th house, so the next six months will be in some way, defined by the energy described by this particular New Moon. For me, it will be all about my creativity, including my children, and also, all the ways in which I “have fun”. The Fifth house relates to pro-creation, re-creation and all matters of the heart; it is a “Fire” house, associated with Leo, and where our flame of being ‘rages consciously and is joyfully fanned by the self’ (Sasportas).
With Scorpio ruling this house in my own chart, my approach to this area of life has always been rather intense to say the least, and I generally find this particular six month cycle to be a busy and productive time for me. I love Autumn, and take great inspiration from the death throes of the year, finding within them a potent vitality that whispers of secrets yet to be born.
For this New Moon I will be taking advantage of the Uranus connection to break connections that no longer serve me, associations that have been hardened by habit, and yet which have indeed, become “institutionalised”.
A Blessed New Moon to you all, and may the Goddess watch over you. ❤
Knowing which house the New Moon falls in, and whether it is in close aspect with any planets in your chart can be an invaluable tool, along with the wider cycle of the Progressed Moon, for discovering the secret rhythms of your daily life.

My name is Joanna Grant, I am an Astrologer, Tarot Reader and Writer, who lives for now in the South West of Ireland. Through my life, I have watched as Jupiter has brought me the desires of my deepest longings, and also suffered as Pluto has torn my life into shreds, and eaten the remains. I have answered the calls of Saturn, as he has brought me to new lands, hardship, and also to deep learning, and have also witnessed that he has never left my side. Uranus has ensured that I have not stayed in any one location for very long, whilst Mars & Venus have led me by the nose on far more occasions than I care to recall, but who have also brought their passionate
creative spirit to the fore in my life. Neptune has beguiled and confused me, but also entranced and inspired, whilst Mercury has made certain that I have studied the reasons “why” for everything to the “nth” degree. The Moon, my eternal guide on this journey and the lady of my own chart, has given me my deep love of The Stars, steering me ever onwards along the path to seek The Sun.
At this stage in my life, it is time to give back….. and my long knowledge of Astrology leads and informs my practice in offering guidance and empowerment, helping others to lead a more authentic, productive and magical life. You can read more about me here.
