New Moon in Sagittarius “Ticket To Ride”

“In the long run, you only hit what you aim at.”  Henry Thoreau

The New Moon in Sagittarius on November 27th brings images of swiftness to the fore, reminding us to focus on what is important, in order to achieve our goals. This may require clearing away what is unnecessary, and we may need to take a long hard look at whatever is obscuring the long view, so that we can move forward unhindered.

Alchemical Tarot: The Eight of Staffs
The Eight of Staffs

This decan is associated with the tarot card of The Eight of Wands, and my example today is shown here from The Alchemical Tarot 4, depicting the necessity of “cutting back” so that energy can be conserved for what is important, the task at hand.

The idea here, is that rather than pushing ahead by force, that the way must be clear by pruning back the issues that obscure your path. 8’s are always connected with work and progress, but suggest that a certain balance must be achieved first. Like an archer with a bow, the perfect tension and focus must be achieved, in order for the arrow to fly true.

This is the image necessary for any projects over the next six months, indicating that the safe passage of a swiftly emerging and motivating vision, can only occur if the right conditions exist. Preparation is all, and you will need the correct conditions to pursue your goals…. and if these exist, then rapid progress is assured.

The Astrologers Diary

131_WOYS_wheel-of-year-pagan-holiday-calendar-900x900The New Moon every month offers an opportunity to sow new seeds, and as an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular New Moon, according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.

This particular New Moon falls in the 5th degree of Sagittarius which Dane Rudhyar describes as follows:

New Moon in the 5th degree of SAGITTARIUS 5°: AN OLD OWL SITS ALONE ON THE BRANCH OF A LARGE TREE: A poised and wise approach to existence based on a clear perception of unconscious factors and their operation.

“The owl has always been a symbol of wisdom, and its hooting call evokes the mysterious and hidden elements of life. The owl functions lucidly in the night aspect of existence. His eyes see what men normally fail to perceive. He represents that consciousness which is active where the processes of life normally escape the attention of the personal ego and its intellect. This symbol suggests the possibility of developing a wisdom beyond tragedy, a peace and poise beyond conflict. One might speak here of TRANSLUCIDITY.”

This particular New Moon falls in my own 6th  house, so during the next six months my health, and the way that I serve others are likely in some way to be wom1defined by the energy described by this particular New Moon. In accordance to the Sagittarian nature of expansion, learning and travel whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual… I am currently in a “far away” place… but hope to enter into a further course of “learning” in the new year… which oddly enough will have medicine, health and healing at its core. something which will help me further the ways in which I can serve others. As I write this, I see yet again, how the natural rhythm of the waxing and waning moons weave their energy into my life, a gentle and loving affirmation that I am travelling the road that is mine, a nod from the universe that all is well. ❤

A Blessed New Moon to you all, and may the Goddess watch over you. ❤

Knowing which house the New Moon falls in, and whether it is in close aspect with any planets in your chart can be an invaluable tool, along with the wider cycle of the Progressed Moon, for discovering the secret rhythms of your daily life.

New Moon in Sag

My name is Joanna Grant, I am an Astrologer, Tarot Reader and Writer, who lives for now Head Shot Fadein the South West of Ireland. Through my life, I have watched as Jupiter has brought me the desires of my deepest longings, and also suffered as Pluto has torn my life into shreds, and eaten the remains. I have answered the calls of Saturn, as he has brought me to new lands, hardship, and also to deep learning, and have also witnessed that he has never left my side. Uranus has ensured that I have not stayed in any one location for very long, whilst Mars & Venus have led me by the nose on far more occasions than I care to recall, but who have also brought their passionate efe5e34ac3b2f4dc8d851a9fa3eb13d1creative spirit to the fore in my life. Neptune has beguiled and confused me, but also entranced and inspired, whilst Mercury has made certain that I have studied the reasons “why” for everything to the “nth” degree. The Moon, my eternal guide on this journey and the lady of my own chart, has given me my deep love of The Stars, steering me ever onwards along the path to seek The Sun.

At this stage in my life, it is time to give back….. and my long knowledge of Astrology leads and informs my practice in offering guidance and empowerment, helping others to lead a more authentic, productive and magical life. You can read more about me here.
