_The Story of Fire_ Part Three

The Three of Wands, Sun in Aries, the harbinger of spring and the creative golden glory of new life…..what will this card bring her she wonders……

Power rises in her today, with the feeling that there is something to be done, to make a difference to her world, to use this journey into the land beyond the door in a way that will help. The healing power of the sun seeps into her bones, crowning her with the knowledge that she is a queen in her world, and she passes through the flaming scarlet portal, to find herself in a rich landscape of verdant colours, their intensity and passion vying with each other for supremacy.

Three women stand in a group before her, gathered around a large brass cauldron which is set upon a blazing fire; women of potential, women of creativity, passion and magic, women of wisdom, knowledge and strength, of adventure and of teaching. She looks at the youngest first, gazing upon her peach ripe skin, golden and warm in the light of the fire. The blond braided hair gives the child a fierce Nordic profile, softened by her obvious youth, a desire for acceptance lurking behind her open porcelain face. She glances up modestly, but what a look she gives; the face of a warrior maiden with the essential potential of youth, the passionate power of ideology and conception, the force and thrust of the bursting seed, the dream of all that will be, resting in her piercing ice blue eyes.

Next she looks at the woman with the long red hair, tall like an Amazon, a mistress of all that is around her, with a gaze that brandishes defiance and accomplishment. A child at her feet, one in her arms, and another in the womb, her shoulders are broad and her breasts are large; the world is at this woman’s command, and she will not be denied. Confidence floods from the depths of her hazel eyes; fecund and ferocious, she guards her children and the life that she carries, protecting her creativity with the power of the lioness, the undisputed queen of her realm.

In awe of this lady, she moves next to the woman with the dark and grey streaked hair. This queen of the twilight wears a leopard skin around her shoulders, and looks back at her with a dispassionate face, filled with the power of her advancing years. The woman’s features have softened somewhat with age, and she does not stand as tall and strong as perhaps she might have done once, but across her face flow a hundred different visions, passing like clouds cross an autumn sky. She sees the depth of her knowledge, and the understanding that strength is an attitude of mind, of vision and of passion. Belief and conviction carry the power to create, for in teaching and communicating, the seeds of change are sown in future generations and live far beyond the measure of a single lifetime. Her descendents will be stronger because of her, carrying her love on through the generations that will come after, an unbroken line of women that reach back into the mists of time and forward into the blazing light of eternity.

The older woman beckons to her, inviting her towards the cauldron, and hesitantly she gazes into its milky depths, wondering what she might see in the swirling luminescent waters. She is drawn into the kaleidoscope colours patterning the surface, drawn into the place within, a womb of creation, where she finds herself swimming through seas of silver with music, hauntingly beautiful, carrying her upwards into a different place. She looks, as if through a window, into a new landscape, and watches three new figures, three golden children, a boy and two girls who are quite close in age. The eldest is a girl, with russet blond golden hair, falling in waves, her brother next, with a colouring the same as hers. The third child is also a girl, hair dark, her skin a beautiful olive colour, and she is chattering and laughing while her siblings are quieter and slightly more reserved. They look at her, these children with a question on their faces, and she tells them to go and play, to have as much fun as they want to and to make as much noise as they wish.

She sees a playground, with all the wonderful things that they have ever dreamed of within it, and all the food that they could ever want, and she fills the place with warmth and with sunlight and with love, she fills it with safety, with peace and with calm. She watches them there, these children, as she and her siblings once were, and although she can feel the tears running down her face and the pain of her broken heart, she can also feel the power of love running through her, the power to create, and recreate and recreate again, to birth whatever reality she desires from the eternal mother of fire.

She lets the vision go eventually, the colours fading into white light, like a water-colour picture that has hung in the sun for too long, but if she listens carefully, even to this day, she can still hear them laughing, somewhere, somewhere in a place that she cannot see, but which she knows is there, free to run and laugh, free to be who they really are in every way they can.

Fire 3 urges the creation of a kingdom that you would inhabit, rather than for you to inhabit that which you have inherited. Be mindful that your energy will attract, according to its vibration; this card alerts you to the need to be the ruler of your own domain. Create that which you would wish to see, with all your heart and soul, knowing that others, who respond to a similar vision, will find their way into your life.
