On Thursday January 28th we see The Full Moon falling in the first decan of Leo. The seed point of this current cycle occurred six months ago, at the New Moon in Leo, and the message then, was to face into the difficulties that were approaching, and to see perhaps where our own attitudes or approaches may actually have been holding us back. This Full Moon illuminates the road we walk, the path that needed igniting back in the summer so that we could burn away the obstacles that stood in front of us. Over the last six months, we have been challenged to be proud of what we are doing, to reconnect with a sense of purpose that we may have wandered from, and to set aside our small fears in order to continue on, even though we may have been afraid.
The last six months have been a test of strength, resolve and determination, and it is encouraging to find ourselves back on stage, ready to receive the applause that we have been working towards. This recognition, however, may not amount to much if we are unable to applaud ourselves, so a certain amount of self examination may be required in this respect. In the new Tarot deck: Thoth Journey-The Oracle of Change, this decan is associated with Fire 5, which in other decks is The Five of Wands. I have put some images below.

This card tells that your humanity is alive and well in the daily struggle to move forward in life. An ego struggle is often signified, the battle between “childlike needs” and the realities and hardships of adult life. This can be tough, and although ultimately the battle is within, it may often manifest as an external struggle. Fives always indicate that there is a need for growth, a challenge to develop a greater understanding of a situation. At this Full Moon, ask yourself where the struggle is, what does it symbolise to you and what part of it can be let go of to lessen the “fight” within.

The Astrologers Diary
The Full Moon every month offers an opportunity to find closure, and to let go of patterns that have outlived their purpose in your life. As an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular Full Moon to clarify the energy of the last six months according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.
This particular Full Moon falls in the 10th degree of Leo:
PHASE 130 (LEO 10°): EARLY MORNING DEW SPARKLES AS SUNLIGHT FLOODS THE FIELD. The exalted feeling that rises within the soul of the individual who has successfully passed through the long night which has tested his strength and his faith.
This symbol is so relevant to me at this Full Moon, as we send out Thoth Journey-The Oracle of Change, to the people that ordered them at the beginning of December. This Full Moon falls on the cusps of my own 3rd & 9th houses, so ties in perfectly with writing, communication (3rd house) and the publishing of books (9th house). A fitting culmination for a creative project (Leo) that is finally, after six years work, being sent across the world (Aquarius).
