For those of you who like to lay cards to help focus the Full Moon energy, I have designed this spread from a consideration of the energies of The New Cancer Moon that fell on June 24th 2017, and The Full Cancer Moon that falls on January 2nd 2018.
The seeding New Moon in Cancer that took place on the 24th of June, was accompanied by Chiron square, suggesting that seeds may have been sown in pain and sorrow, as a hopeful dream of salvation, rather than as a realistic vision of growth. What continues on under this Lunation, is likely to be made stronger, born of an examination of how healing the self is paramount, and that unrealistic expectations, must now be let go, in order that you can focus on that which is most important to you now.
With powerful aspects to Neptune, and the nodal axis, this Full Moon falls in the middle decan of Cancer, associated with The Three of Cups, and is associated with the celebratory phase of the “birth” which flows from a combination of the initial ecstacy of “conception” and the trials that are undergone during “gestation”. This particular cycle is very emotional, orientated towards love, relationships, motherhood and family in general.
Shuffle your chosen deck, and focus on what has been occurring for you in the last 6 months. Think of a situation where you have been trying to build a new emotional reality, and also of where you may have been forced to let go of issues from the past (that may be ancestral) that have been holding you in stale situations.
Draw 5 cards:
Card 1: What new energy have I been trying to birth into my life?
Card 2: What painful issues has this brought to light?
Card 3: What inner adjustments have been necessary to heal this pain?
Card 4: What harvest do I carry forward this Full Moon?
Card 5: What emotional strength have I gained that I did not have before?
For Card 1, the realm of life can be seen by the element of the card. Card 3 could be an ongoing measure that you can employ to make sure that things remain on course. Card 4 is likely to show what you have gained… if this is a “negative” card, it may be an understanding of a difficult experience that you have undergone, in order to learn the healing message that was promised in the New Moon. Card 5 will be the lesson of the phase, a core concept or mandala that you can employ in the future to assist you in remembering what you have learned in this phase.
