The energy of the Cancer New Moon on July 13th falls at 20 degrees 41 of Cancer, just into the third decan, associated with The Four of Cups.
The third decan of Cancer, is associated with the competition for limited resources, for if one to have enough, then another must be denied, and the less there is to go round. The more the competition increases for resources, driven by our instinctual fear that there will be a deficiency, and that we will be left without, a passionate and hidden violence can erupt.
In the Thoth, this card, depicted left, shows the overflowing luxury of the golden chalices, the nirvana of overflowing love, but also depicted are the storm clouds gathering in the distance, warning that the sense of being emotionally secure, repleat and fulfilled, is only temporary, and that change is on the way.
As a society, we seem to constantly striving to be filled….. with love, with money, with food, with sex, with goods… and the list goes on… but in order to be filled, there must also be a denial, to balance the luxury on one side, there must be a deprivation on the other.
At this New Moon, this polarity is emphasised, by the position of Pluto in Capricorn in exact opposition to the lunar eclipse degree, a counterbalance of death and transformation that gives this new moon such power. We are challenged to look at how we may attempt to fill ourselves to excess, and that in order to do so, who then is denied…. and what part of ourselves are we starving, in order to feed our emotional insecurities.
So in an attempt to focus the planetary energies and to find insight in the dark of the moon, I have designed this Tarot Spread to help use the energy of this New Moon, to help you to discover the potentials that are waiting for you at this time in your life.
