The New Moon in Pisces “Hope Springs Eternal” March 13th 2021

Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems.”

Rainer Maria Rilke

The next New Moon falls on March 13th falling in the last decan of Pisces, beginning the next lunar cycle which will culminate in six months, in the last decan of Pisces just approaching midnight on the 20th September 2021. This particular cycle is connected with the tarot card of The Ten of Cups, associated with Mars in Pisces, and falling under the dominion of The Queen of Wands. Ten, in the Tarot has a strong affinity with the completion of a cycle, echoing the energy of Fortune, and in this decan, the last in the astrological wheel, even more so. This is a cycle that is concerned very much not only with endings, but also in the pause of pregnant possibility that preludes a new beginning; it is the space through which a seed falls, from the tree to the earth.

In Thoth Journey-The Oracle of Change, I found myself within a Bedouin encampment, a child hovering on the edge of adulthood, oblivious to the comforts of home, completely unaware of the comfort they gave me, how much they would be missed when they had gone. Looking out into the unknown, aware that I would soon follow in my fathers footsteps in learning how to navigate the next step, I was oblivious to how that might be achieved, just knowing with a feeling deep within, that everything would change forever. I can often link this card with the idea of “gratitude”, being grateful for all that we have. So often we can feel disappointed with our lot, lacklustre and jaded at the prospect perhaps of returning home to the same person, going in to the same job, eating the same food, or even looking out at the same view. At such times, it can be easy to cast our gaze beyond ourselves to find something or someone else to instigate change, especially if we are stuck in the monotony of our own thinking.

The secret of this card, I feel, is the idea of an external completion which brings us internally to a new level, the next cycle in the spiral perhaps, the chance to begin again in a new way. With gratitude for all that we have, it is possible to become re-energised, to transform the way that we look out onto our world so that we can, once more, see the splendour that has miraculously appeared, as if by magic, before our very eyes. As this is the suit of cups and the element of Water, we are talking here about the emotions, the feeling and intuitive function, and most probably, the relationships that we have with others. The realm of the emotions can often be the most challenging; experiences here, plunging us into the most difficult and challenging scenarios, but in the same way, they can also engender the most profound healing, bringing a rare and profound insight that may never otherwise have been discovered.

New Moon Blessing

I am the power of the bursting seed, dancing in the beckoning void, ripe with limitless potentials. A kaleidoscope of outcomes seduces, invites and tempts you, but be still in the darkness of the Moon. Sense the power of her black womb, and wait. Trust that in the stillness that I, the right “seed” for now, will find you, a vision for your soul to nurture…… In Pisces-I Believe: in the power of the unseen, the waters of the womb are my source of inspiration, to surrender to a force that is greater than me, to return to the place where I came from. Through me, all seek to return to that point of bliss, that connection with the divine, that point of creation, that seed of perfect union. ©JKG.

At this New Moon, take a moment to pause, to reflect, to look within. Pisces is a sign associated with faith and spirituality, dreams, romance, creativity, healing, sacrifice and service. Dreamy and sensitive, this sign is prone to seeing the world through rose tinted glasses, and may have a tendency to soak up the moods and emotions of everyone around them; healthy boundaries are a must for anyone with Pisces emphasised in their chart. The Astrological sign of Pisces has long been associated with the tarot card The Moon, number 18 in the Major Arcana, and this image of The Moon, is from The Oracle of Change, by Aia Leu. The Astrologers Diary

The New Moon every month offers an opportunity to sow new seeds, and as an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular New Moon, according to where it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.

This New Moon falls in my own 10th House, concerned with public life, my work in the world, the branches that I am sending forth. Now that the book that I have written is out in the public domain, and people are reading it and reviewing it, it seems that on some level I have “finally arrived”, (in my own mind!). This New Moon will help me to focus on developing a more consolidated approach to my work, to build on the more rewarding aspects, and to give less energy to the areas that are less so. Pisces is a sign that can suffer from a lack of focus, and also weak boundaries, so this will be the foundation stone of my work for the next six months, to try to connect with the “bigger picture” in terms of my work, and yet not to get so lost in the unnecessary details and deviations that I achieve this at the expense of myself. I need to learn to work smarter, to develop stronger structures, and to learn that ‘less’ is quite possibly ‘more’.
