For those of you who like to lay cards to help focus the Full Moon energy, I have designed this spread from a consideration of the energies of The New Sagittarius Moon that fell on December 12th 2020, and the Full Sagittarius Moon that falls on May 26th 2021.
The seeding New Moon in Sagittarius, that took place on the 12th December 2020 ,spoke of the need to separate from some burden or obligation that you may have been carrying, but which had become too heavy, too cumbersone, too outdated. Although these things may have been precious, well invested and loved, the processes of the last six months may well have revealed that your soul’s demands have meant that you have found yourself suddenly lighter and freer in a way that you may have yearned for in the past, but may now in some way regret, although it is what you know deep down is right…….
I love the juxtaposition of the cards above, how the heaviness of the 10 of Wands enters into the alchemical process that is described in XIV.Art, and emerges as a lightness of being that is full of potential and evocative of new life…. there is an image in the center of that card that looks to me like a perfectly curled, but as yet unformed, human life form.
Shuffle your chosen deck, and focus on what has been occurring for you in the last 6 months. Think of any situations where you have felt as if you have lost your way or your vision, and feel bereft and uncertain concerning your future. Draw 5 cards:
- Card 1: What “burden” have I been forced to relinquish in the last 6 months?
- Card 2: How has this impacted me, what regrets are surfacing?
- Card 3: Where can I move forward with certainty in this new world that I inhabit?
- Card 4:What new stability can I foster as I seek to build a new vision?
- Card 5: What positives can I draw from this difficult experience?
For Card 1, the realm of life can be seen by the element of the card. Card 3 could be an ongoing measure that you can employ to make sure that things remain on course. Card 4 is likely to show an understanding of your own personal dilemmas that you have faced in the last six months, and how this colours your expectation of future experiences. Card 5 will be the lesson of the phase, a core concept or mandala that you can employ in the future to assist you in remembering what you have learned.
I hope that you find this spread insightful, and as usual, please feel free to share and pass on.
The three cards that I have associated with this phase, The Ten of Wands (Moon in the last decan of Sagittarius), The Eight of Wands (Moon in the first decan of Sagittarius) and The Lovers, reflect the energy of this current Lunar Cycle. The numerical values of the three cards adds to six, the number of Major Arcana card “The Lovers” which is itself associated with Gemini.
I love the contrast of the three cards above, showing the “certainty” of the past, that must be relinquished, and the “unformed sense” of the future, which is unfolding. It is often only through tears that the future can be revealed, tears which wash away the structures that we have relied upon for too long and which conceal a more suitable road upon which to travel.
This Full Moon offers the opportunity to illuminate the potential for finding a balance of power,
either in relationships, external situations, or within. It offers the chance to discover that being on
the same page as yourself, funny as it may sound, will actually help to resolve any difficulties in your relationships with others, whilst assisting you in making the choices which you are currently facing. Try adding your own five cards together and see which of the Major Arcana you arrive at. To read more about the meaning behind this cycle, its origins and deeper meaning, read more here. “”
full moon blessings to you all, and may the goddess watch over you
