When information which properly belongs to the public is systematically withheld by those in power, the people soon become ignorant of their own affairs, distrustful of those who manage them, and — eventually — incapable of determining their own destinies.

The New Moon in Gemini on Friday, April 22nd, 2020 brings the challenges of making decisions in the face of an overwhelming amount of information.
Dane Rudhyar tells us that the essence of this particular degree of Gemini speaks of
“The formalization of collective ideals through the application of reason and order to newly discovered aspects of nature.”
It seems today, that everywhere we look, we are confronted with a deluge of information in regards to invisible aggressors that pose threats to our very existence. Politics Media and Advertising, modern-day Magicians, exploit our human fears in regards to the threats of Viruses, Climate Change, 5G, Recession and so on, an endless list of foes that undermine us, our families and our loved ones, as well as our fellow humans and the beautiful world around us.
The Tarot cards associated with this New Moon, are The Eight of Swords, lord of this decan, and Fortune and The Lovers, Jupiter & Gemini, which represent the Astrological signature of The Eight of Swords. I have shown examples below from the Alchemical Tarot by Robert Place.
Borne out most clearly by the central card, the dilemma and fear of this decan is the feeling of being trapped by circumstances beyond your control. The red mythical beast is held within a cage of the downward-pointing swords, representing ideas, thoughts and beliefs, some of them ours and some of them belonging to others. The beast represents our anger, our feelings of alienation, of being cut-off from others, experiences that many of us are very familiar with at the moment.
The key to a deeper understanding of this card lies within those flanking it. The constant changes of opinion and views that rise and fall according to the “latest” “up to date” information, confuse and worry us, often leaving us unable to form a strong viewpoint from which to operate, failing to get in touch with our deepest “knowing” so that we may do what we know is best for ourselves and for those to whom we are responsible. Frustrated by our decreasing confidence in those who lead or advise us, it may seem that we are helpless to escape our dilemma, hemmed in by rules, laws and opinions that we may not fully understand, or perhaps even agree with.
The key to this New Moon is to find a way through the overwhelm of information, to find a path that fits; to focus only on what is important for you, now and here. This may mean that you need to break with what is known, trusted, or believed in if those structures hold less meaning for you now. It may be that patterns of thinking that have served you well in the past, no longer seem to suffice, it may be the time to embrace a new paradigm.

The bondage of fear can be a strong theme right now, where there is full knowledge of a situation, perhaps even too much knowledge, and it seems that wherever you turn, there are consequences that you do not wish to have.
Taking responsibility for ones own part in any situation of mental paralysis is key… the acceptance that you did not get to this place as if by magic, and that you cannot bring all your baggage with you!
Culminating on November 30th 2020, this 6-month cycle focuses on discernment and refinement, facing up to your difficult choices and taking the steps necessary to liberate yourself from the paralysis of indecision.
“Gemini-I Think: And my thoughts flit out into the air of the world like butterflies in summer. I gather and distribute, collect and share, I link and lace wherever I find, bringing ideas and thoughts together, that would not otherwise find each other. I am mischievous, psycho-pomp, walker between worlds, light and dark. My face is always smiling and I hide my darkness even from myself ” JKG
“NEW MOON BLESSING– I am the power of the bursting seed, dancing in the beckoning void, ripe with limitless potentials. A kaleidoscope of outcomes seduces, invites and tempts you, but be still in the darkness of the Moon. Sense the power of her black womb, and wait. Trust that in the stillness that I, the right “seed” for now, will find you, a vision for your soul to nurture” © JKG
The Astrologers Diary

The New Moon every month offers an opportunity to sow new seeds, and as an Astrologer, I find it to be a useful exercise for myself and in working with others, to use the energy of each particular New Moon, according to the Sabian Symbol that it falls on, together with the position in which it falls in the Natal Chart. Such considerations can be invaluable in steering through ups and downs, and in becoming “easy” with the ebb and flow of what life brings.
PHASE 63 (GEMINI 3°): THE GARDEN OF THE TUILERIES IN PARIS.
KEYNOTE: The formalization of collective ideals through the application of reason and order to newly discovered aspects of nature.

This month, the New Moon falls again in my own 12th house, a place in the horoscope which is connected to all that is hidden from sight. Very fitting this month, as I only realised today that it was the New Moon…. hence the lateness of the post!! The New Moon has accompanied strong winds here in Ireland, and also devastating winds in Asia. Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, is also the Lord of Winds. My new garden was started today…. very auspicious that the builder just happened to start today, he doesn’t seem to be the type that plans his timetable according to the Moon, but rather just another reminder that we all, whether we know it or not, have an unseen and unspoken attunement to the nature of the Universe that we live in.
For any intentions that anyone may have at this time, this particular New Moon brings an opportunity to close the eyes, to focus on what REALLY matters, and to make clear decisions based on your own current truth. It is time to leave behind what has confused you, that which has its basis in the fearful stories of your past, and to move forward, clear-sighted, in a new way, free from the constrictions and blindfolds of denial.
A blessed New Moon to you all, and may the Goddess watch over you. ❤
Knowing where the New Moon falls in your own chart, and whether it is in close aspect with any planets, can be an invaluable tool, along with the wider cycle of the Progressed Moon, for discovering the secret rhythms of your daily life.
